
Community Activities
Karnes County's rich heritage is also host to many festivals and
events each highlighting their ancestry, with Polish sausage, Czech kolaches, Mexican
fajitas and barbecue. In addition, Karnes County is a popular hunting
ground for doves, and host to The Lonesome Dove Fest, an annual event held in conjunction
with the opening of dove hunting season.

Held annually the first two days of dove hunting season in the South Zone.
Features sporting clays and skeet shooting events, retriever
demonstrations, archery displays, kids' fishing pond, barbecue and beverages and other

A three day festival held annually beginning the third
Thursday in September, Karnes City Fairgrounds.
Features entertainment, music, dancing, fiddler's contest, lots of food,

Christmas Along the Corridor

Annual Event held the first Saturday in December.
Official Pony Express
Christmas Couriers, decked in the holiday spirit, carry the season's greetings along the
historic, 90 mile Alamo-La Bahia Corridor, from Goliad to
San Antonio. Special Pony Express postal cancellations are available at temporary postal
stations in several communities along the courier route.
